Harvest Festival: Over 2,000 events – salzburg.ORF.at
Business
The Salzburg Harvest Festival is now in its 27th season. After two years of restraint due to the pandemic, a full program is on the agenda again today, and around 350,000 visitors are expected. Tourism and agriculture are trying to stimulate the off-season.
The marketing experts at SLT have dubbed Harvest Festival the fifth season of the year. What began 27 years ago as a regional initiative in Flachgau has now become a nationwide initiative. This year there are around 2,000 events between August 20th and October 21st.
More than 3 million overnight stays
Autumn is the time of year that is currently experiencing the strongest growth in terms of tourism. In the previous year there was an increase of five percent compared to before the pandemic – this value should also be achieved today. That would be 3.3 million overnight stays in autumn.
Regionality as a central element
Retro-regionality should also have an impact on tourism. Just like the good accessibility of Salzburg by car. Regionality is also a central element in the 78 locations of the Harvest Festival. The focus is on the regionality, especially on the Lungauer Eachtling.
