Club Le Temps De Vivre: the happiness of aging
A joyful club with many activities to restore social ties between retirees and enjoy life.
From the door of this club for franchised retirees, good humor invades us. Everyone laughs, talks to each other in a spirit of joyful camaraderie. This is also the desired atmosphere for this club which was created in 1980 under the aegis of the mayor Jean-Louis Médecin. The primary objective was to establish a site where people of a certain age could meet and intended for the entire population residing in Monaco, over the age of approximately 55 explains Claude Bollati, Deputy Mayor and Delegate at Club Le Temps de Vivre (CLTV).
It is well known that social ties are essential to the good health and autonomy of retirees. With this in mind, the club ensures to allow people of a certain age and especially widows and widowers not to find themselves in isolation explains Mr. Bollati.

A dynamic club, far from clichés
Over time, the club, always listening to its members, has developed a whole range of activities. Indeed, each member is free to propose an idea that is close to his heart and to participate in its creation. Thus, today, no less than 20 activities are offered. Physical activities (soft gym, Nordic walking, balance workshop), leisure dances, choir, card games, board games, film screenings, creative hobbies, the list is long but everyone can find what they are looking for.
On August 2, the themed activity took place, offered approximately once a month. This time in the Far West, most of the members had volunteered to create the sets and animations. Thus, the participants were able to eat popcorn and donuts while dancing to the country. They could also have fun throwing lassos at a bull, shooting at targets, replacing horseshoes or accompanying the sheep to the sheepfold.
The band of jolly fellows also go on the mop from time to time. Pétanque, sea trip, racetrack, mountain walk, everything goes and everyone finds their account.
“It’s a big joke. Staff are lovely”
With so many activities as varied as they are original, the club makes the clichés lie. As proof, Lucienne Sargenti, member of the CLTV, often hears ” are you going to that old man’s club? Yet you are still energetic! ” To which Lucienne replies: ” these people do not know what they are losing! It’s a big joke. The staff are lovely.”
For the retiree, who arrived at the club six years ago, the CLTV has even become ” a second family“. She explains to us that she turned to the club after the death of her husband: ” I needed a social life“. Now, Lucienne goes to the club about three times a week, and particularly appreciates the variety of activities. ” It’s a very rich club, it offers us different outings. There is something for every taste ! […] Last week out went trout fishing, it was great!“, she rejoices. ” There is everything you need, they offer a lot of things“, continues Lucienne.
This is the friendly and good-natured atmosphere that reigns within the club. An atmosphere not only inherent to the members but also to the staff, always attentive and involved. Host Christophe Lambert, whom Lucienne Sargenti does like a pearl, wishes ” bring a moment where we escape while having fun“.

A future premises in the heart of the Principality
Today, the temporary premises are quite remote, at 4 boulevard Charles III, which some of the members deplore. However, the trip is worth it. Especially since a minibus, left by the Town Hall, brings and brings back members with reduced mobility or who are far from a bus stop, from their place of residence to the club.
To facilitate travel and provide a more accessible location, the Town Hall has decided to move the Club to the heart of the Principality, to a house near the Casino. ” It’s a diamond“, says Mr. Bollati who is delighted with these future premises still under construction. The Deputy Mayor also hopes for an opening in the second half of 2023.
Club Le Temps De Vivre is open to retirees resident in Monaco. Everyone can register with the Town Hall for 40€ per year. For non-residents, some exceptions can be made in the case where the retiree has worked and lived several years of his life in the Principality.
The Club welcomes its members every day of the week, Monday to Friday, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. From September 1, to welcome retirees even in the morning, the club will open its doors from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
