Last hour! The first case of monkeypox was confirmed in the Republic of Moldova
The first case of monkeypox was registered in the Republic of Moldova. According to the Ministry of Health, monkey pox was confirmed in a foreign citizen, who traveled to our country from the United States of America, in the interest of work.
“Today, the person sought medical assistance at the “Toma Ciorbă” Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases, where she was hospitalized with suspicion of monkeypox, having general weakness, fever and skin rashes. Also today, specimens were collected, being transported for laboratory investigations to the National Agency for Public Health. The RT-PCR test for monkey pox was positive”, states the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova.
According to health authorities, in the US the man was in contact with a person confirmed to have monkeypox, so the epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
Symptoms of monkeypox are usually fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, muscle aches and rashes.
To prevent infection with monkey pox we recommend that you wash your hands with water and put, avoid close contact with people, who suspect that they have been infected or are confirmed with monkey pox and/or with animals, which could be infected, and so on .
