IAEA to Zaporozhye NPP – Russian Foreign Ministry – Russia |
Moscow. 8 August. Interfax – Russia has done everything necessary for the visit of the IAEA delegation to the Zaporozhye NPP, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
“We fix the obligation of the IAEA Director General, the planned visit to ZNPP.
She stressed that the Russian side “has long been, at least in different countries of the world and in the international arena, dangerous to condemn the incessant civilian strikes” against the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
“We cannot ignore the obvious: every day the situation becomes more and more dangerous. We often send updated information to the IAEA “on the spot,” added the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, announced his obligations in connection with the shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Grossi stressed that he was ready to lead the IAEA’s mission to protect and guarantee safety at nuclear power plants.
The authorities of Energodar have repeatedly stated about the shelling from the Ukrainian side of the nuclear power plant and there were workers.
Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It has VVER-1000 power units. The first power unit was put into operation in December 1984, the sixth – in October 1995.
The Zaporozhye region is currently partly under the control of Russian forces as a result of special operations in Ukraine.
