Guinean singer detained after complaint about false visa to Portugal
The Guinean Judiciary Police (PJ) detained for investigation the singer Ju Keendo suspected of leading a Schengen visa forgery network, a source from the corporation told Lusa this Monday.
The artist went this Monday to present to a magistrate of the Ministry for hearings following “several complaints from suspects”, the PJ source said.
The musician was detained by the PJ last Thursday, after “a compromising complaint” by a citizen “that it had been received false” with the promise that a visa for Portugal “when in fact that visa was false”, said the same source.
“On being arrested, several people arrived at the PJ premises with complaints that they gave the artist money to obtain a Schengen visa,” added a source from the police force.
According to the PJ, the complainants told the police that the artist promised them or family members Portugal as dancers in his band musical.
Ju Keendo is a well-known artist of the new wave of Guinean music and regularly performs concerts or music videos in countries.
A source from the Ministry confirmed to Lusa that the artist decreed him the measure of preventive detention to determine the public trial.
