Ex-mayor Nosek: Gross pinned me against the wall that I will sit for the evacuation of Karlno

Sugar Mizzy August 8, 2022

I had an advantage in that I was 35. I was young and I didn’t drink alcohol yet, Nosek recalled. Today it would be a lot more mountains. And that we really enjoyed a lot of dramatic moments, that is an indisputable fact.

When I was afraid

The moment when the house at Sokolovsk 9 in Karln came to life is still in the mayor’s mind. lo about the first house that fell. And it was right after I let the cops in there. I was then standing by the ruins of a destroyed house and I really didn’t know if anyone was left there or not. But I knew that if someone stayed there and died, it was my fault. That was the feeling of the parties.

This happened at the moment when the water from the flooded Karlno began to recede. The statics of the famous house were disturbed and some experts advised that the old buildings should be torn down. It will be impossible to return the people to their homes due to the storm, and Karlna will have to be rebuilt.

The drunken people wanted to return as quickly as possible. They were worried about their property, they had things in their apartments to which they had a personal relationship. But the most important moments took place a few days later, when the fire department and the Vltava River workers told us that there was nothing terrible, that the situation was stable and Prague would not be flooded by large amounts of water, Josef Nosek recalled.

With this information, the mayor of Prague, Igor Nmec, left the crisis room. He went to the Charles Bridge. There he declared that the situation was excessively heated and that a cabin from Slap was floating down the Vltava river behind him, he described chaotic information from an expert, the former mayor of Prague 8.

Where they went wrong?

According to Josef Nosko, it was clearly a mistake that no one was prepared for a similar situation. In modern history, Prague has not experienced a similar situation with gout, so they mainly had to activate. But it was clear that the politicians did not have enough relevant information.

No one was prepared for this, including the institutions that supplied them with information. So what did we do then? thanks to Nosek’s question. A week ago, the first wave of floods took place and the entire Vltava reservoir was filled. A few centimeters fell. A day later, the two fronts collided and fighting began again. About 10 centimeters of water fell again. Navc stella prelo. But the Vltava Basin gave the model the same prediction: it means that the floods will be roughly the same as less than a week ago.

Only the ground was packed, the Vltava Cascade was full and the water had nowhere to go. And a few hours before that, the Vltava began to rise above all conceivable values, we received information on the crisis television that it should be in the pod, explains Nosek.

According to him, the only meteorologists from the HMU predicted something else and warned that the situation was much worse. But there are really good people on the crisis tube. There are soldiers, a policeman, firefighters, Povod Vltava, representatives of individual city streets. At that moment, it’s bad for whoever has a stronger voice and asserts himself. And that was the first source of the Vltava and the fire brigade. And they agreed that it shouldn’t be such a problem.

So when the situation changed drastically and the leaders of Prague at the time found out that things were going to get tough, the politicians had to act lightning fast. Prague, that’s a huge colossus, how many thousand ednks. When something happens, members turn to anon and ask what they should do. But this situation was unusual.

Gross threatened to take me to prison

When the magistrate found out that the situation was really dire, it turned out, according to the former mayor, that the citizens can handle a crisis situation in time. In the end, there was not a single fatal accident in Prague. As far as I can remember, there was not a single vn once. And that was a huge rush in this so-called situation. For the fact that the city suite really worked in the end, you are especially to be appreciated by the editor of the magazine at the time, Zdek Zajek.

In Rozstel, Josef Nosek recalled the most emotional moments. You know, at one point even the Minister of the Interior, Stanislav Gross, was drinking behind them, pinned me against the wall and said that if he doesn’t understand the evacuation of Karlno and Libn, then let him lock me up. The then mayor Igor Nmec was also there.

The evacuation of Karlno and Libn really seemed pointless at first glance, recalls the former mayor. At that time, they reassured us that the situation would not be so dire. But we literally drove the pesto people out of Karlne and Libne.

Gross pinned me against the wall saying he would sit down for the evacuation of Karlno, recalled Josef Nosek, mayor of Prague 8 in Rozstel during the 2002 flood.

I remember how I was standing there the next morning, it was in Sokolovsk Street, Karln was deserted, there were no cars there, but no water. And at that moment, I thought to myself: Well, for this, he’s going to sit in prison for up to ten times, Nosek smiled.

But then the apocalypse started. Karln, Libe and the great Palmovka were under water. The mayor once again appreciated how the overwhelming majority of the residents obeyed the order and left their homes. However, several hundred people remained, and until the last moment they did not want to see that the quarters would succumb to destruction. The rescuers had to evacuate some of them in loks at the last moment.

They did not

Even the police didn’t want to see the fact that there was a lot of water coming, and for example, in the office in Karln, they subjected the feet to a number of cracks, so that on the advice of the mayor, they were moved from the basement to the first floor.

And they weren’t alone. A friend of Karlnsk mototechnics. I told him, and he will take all the cars away. But he pulled them out on a lever about half a meter and then, when we were sailing there on the boat, we saw how the cars were flooded and some big fish was moving between them. That pbh is a huge amount, k Nosek.

In the interview, Josef Nosek also recalled the controversial and emotional moments of the flood in 2002. We were all afraid. We didn’t really know what was going to happen. Especially in Karln. There was one option that the whole of Karln would start to slide due to insecurity and would have to be demolished. The whole fortress would have to be rebuilt. Thank God it didn’t happen.

Immediately after the floods, speculations began to appear that Prague 8 used the floods to prevent hundreds of maladjusted residents from moving to Karlno, who for a long time did not pay him in city apartments. Josef Nosek in Rozstel did not avoid answering this controversial question.

You know, at that time we received an offer from various city streets for people who lived in the basement and drank a lot. In the midst of this, we messed around with apartments, and the truth is that 15 attractive residents found themselves in various places in Prague, outside of the eight, outside of Karln. So, yes, there were fewer non-conformist fights, but it benefited Karln, said Nosek.

Karln ije dl

Josef Nosek piped up and made a controversial mistake. According to him, even the owner of the flooded house in Karln preferred to let the damaged building decay. This disrupted their statics and the houses had to be torn down to try to save the expensive reconstruction. In their place, new projects were created.

According to Josef Nosk, however, it is an indisputable success that Karlno eventually became a lucrative building that, despite significant changes, has preserved its original art nouveau and classicist style. What I tried to prevent as mayor after the floods was to prevent Karlno from becoming an isolated office building. sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. Karln was definitely depopulated. But in the end, the ovens were just apartment buildings, and it was possible for Karlní to remain as a part of the center of the capital.

Where did Karln move today? Is it correct that a new city has de facto started to be built in the flood zone? And how is Karln prepared for another month of swimming? The former mayor of Prague 8 in Rozstel answered this as well.
