Energy – Hanover – Althusmann: Will give support for energy prices – Economy
Hanover (dpa / lni) – Lower Saxony’s state government has agreed, according to Economics Minister Bernd Althusmann (CDU), to help consumers in view of high energy prices. “There will be support from Lower Saxony,” said Althusmann on Monday in Hanover at the presentation of the CDU poster for the upcoming state elections. This agreement was reached within the state government at the weekend.
The Economics Minister spoke of a “manageable amount” that the country would pay. This help should then be given to people who are threatened by energy blockages. He did not initially give any further details – these are expected to be known on Tuesday. Considerations for setting up a hardship fund became public about a month ago.
“The issue of energy pollution and energy prices is the central issue for the citizens of this country,” said Althusmann. Above all, the CDU top candidate for the state elections made the federal government responsible for further relief.
With a view to the state elections in October, Althusmann reiterated the goal of the CDU becoming the strongest force. In the most recent polls, the SPD under Prime Minister Stephan Weil was several percentage points ahead of the Christian Democrats.
Althusmann named education as an important state political issue. The teaching provision in Lower Saxony should be better again. According to the Ministry of Education, this dropped to its lowest level in 19 years in the past school year. Althusmann was Minister of Education in Lower Saxony from 2010 to 2013. A favorite alliance for the new legislative period named the 55-year-old not.
