Toulouse and Nice share the points
Two faces, but a real desire to be an employer. After two years in Ligue 2 purgatory, Téfécé wasted no time in getting their legs together against a Nice team that had left to play at the top of the table. If the first banner was from the Riviera, with a shot from the right of Amine Gouiri which grazed the post of Maxime Dupé (4th), it was the Haut-Garonne who tormented the opposing rear guard during the first act.
Real poison on his calls for the ball, striker Thijs Dallinga had the first serious opportunity for the Violets with a face-to-face in front of Marcin Bulka, and a duel won, with the help of the post, by the Polish goalkeeper (17th). The first summons is followed by the fatal shot. Three minutes later, a returning cross from Branco van den Boomen was deflected at close range by the Dutch center-forward for his first goal in his new colors (1-0, 20th). Stunned, the Aiglons were even able to thank a solid Jean-Clair Todibo, able to thwart a new header at close range from Thijs Dallinga (23th) to keep visitors in the loop.
We had to wait for the cool break to see a reaction from Lucien Favre’s players. Another Dutchman, Calvin Stengs, notably showed his legs on his right wing. His first hooks allowed him to place a heavy cross shot on the top of the crossbar (31th). It is then with two centers, badly concretized by Amine Gouiri (35th) and Andy Delort (44th) that the former AZ Alkmaar created danger. The advantage is however very Toulouse, at the break.
When they returned from the locker room, the desire was again for Nice, and despite counter opportunities, the Toulousans were no longer really there physically. Well served from the head by Amine Gouiri, Khéphren Thuram raised Maxime Dupé for the first time (61th), then Mario Lemina tried his hand at a far too ambitious long shot from 30 meters, next door (68th). The Gym was delivered at the start of the last quarter of an hour, thanks to new blood. Barely entered, Bilal Brahimi accelerated on his right wing to find Aaron Ramsey behind. The Welshman did not tremble for his first ball, which he sent into the left corner of Maxime Dupé (1-1, 78th).
Toulouse let the victory slip away and could have given in in stoppage time. It took a very inspired Dupé to divert a crossed header from Mario Lemina (90th+2) and validate the overall good work of his training. This result, the men of Philippe Montanier will try to improve it, next week, in Troyes. At the same time, Nice will be chasing after their first victory of the campaign, at home, against Strasbourg.
