Tie to open the Liga Portugal
Intense game in Braga ended with 3-3 on the scoreboard
The main football team of Sporting Clube de Portugal drew 3-3, this Sunday afternoon, against SC Braga, at Municipal de Braga, in the first game of the Liga Portugal 2022/2023.
In the official duel that opened a new season, Rúben Amorim initially bet on Antonio Adán, Gonçalo Inácio, Sebastián Coates, Matheus Reis, Pedro Porro, Hidemasa Morita, Matheus Nunes, Nuno Santos, Francisco Trincão, Paulinho and Pedro Gonçalves.
The Leões started well in the match and focused on the goal defended by Matheus, with Pedro Porro, just two minutes into the game, leaving the first warning in the marking of a direct free-kick on the left side of the area.
Seven minutes later, and after another free-kick, this time in the right aisle, Sporting CP opened the scoring. Matheus o es Nuefère de la midfield and where Pedro Gonça recovered he entered the area from the right and crossed to the second post Leoninos, if he anticipated to score the first green and white goal.
Still, Sporting CP’s advantage did not last long. Five minutes later, SC Braga made it 1-1 with a low shot by Simon Banza.
Lively game in Braga, with a light signal more for the Lions, who did not take long to make the 1-2: Matheus Nunes on the right, saw Nuno Santos isolated on the left and turned the game around and the winger, at the entrance of the area, shot the first with the ball stinging not rel and entering the goal with no chance for the home team’s goalkeeper.
Sporting CP again in front, in the 18th minute, with opportunities continuing from side to side and, in the 32nd minute, SC Braga put the ball in the green and white goal again, but Fábio Veríssimo did not validate the goal and the VAR confirmed a decision.
Shortly after, Sporting CP’s response with Francisco Trincão making it 1-3 at the feet, after breaking through at the edge of the area, but either a shot in the face of Matheus went over the goal. SC Braga also responded and did not give up the follow-up and, during the extra-time, made the 2-2, through Niakaté, in a free-kick by André Horta.
The match was tied at half-time, after an intense 45 minutes and four goals.
Rúben Amorim kept the eleven for the second half and it was again Pedro Porro to activate Leonino’s first warning, in an insistence move that ended with the Spaniard’s shot, which Matheus held off without problems.
SC Braga, after an unmarked foul on Hidemasa Morita next to the Braga bench, also reached the goal defended by Antonio Adán, but Ricardo Horta’s shot went over.
At the time, the coach and playing white started to move and then three changes: Nuno Santos, Hider and Paulinho entered and Jeremiah St. Juste, Manuel Ugarte and Edwards.
Soon after, Francisco Trincão, at the entrance of the area and after missing the shot, passed to the right, where Pedro Gonçalves appeared to shoot, but the winger fell in the dispute with Sequeira. Fábio Veríssimo started with a penalty kick, but later reversed the decision.
So it was up to the Lions trying the goal in another way and Pedro Porro was close to achieving it in the 65th minute. Good individual work by the Spaniard, who entered the area from the right and tried to shoot in the space he had, the ball hit Niakaté and hit the post, with Matheus amending with difficulty, with Marcus Edwards in the back.
Next, SC Braga, on two occasions, forced Antonio Adán to make two more saves, thus keeping the game very ‘alive’ and with the marker in open defense. Sporting CP with more ball, but SC Braga more dangerous at this point in the game and the beneficiary of some fouls near the area.
At the start of the last 10 minutes, another move was made at Sporting CP with Pedro Porro leaving and giving way to Rochinha. A decision was confirmed and that the 2-3 Lions reached the moment 84 minutes. Good job from the green and white reinforcement, under pressure in the position, putting the ball to the right post where Marcus Edwards appeared to finish.
Immediately, Rúben Amorim, after the third goal in Ricardo Esgaio, abdicated Francisco Trincão, and three minutes later the Sportinguista advantage was broken again: Alvaro Djaló broke through on the left and served Abel Ruiz for the 3-3.
The development still gave six more minutes to play, but there were no more goals in Braga and so the game ended with a point for each side.
On the next round, the Lions will play at Estádio José Alvalade against the recently returned Rio Ave FC. The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, August 13, at 20:30
