It’s a full box. The immersive exhibition in the world of Van Gogh, introduced on July 6 at the EDF Bazacle spaces in Toulouse, has been a real success this summer. Indeed, it is sold out until September.
Some people, who had not booked, even had to turn around, regretfully. This is the case of Isabelle, who had come on purpose this Sunday, August 7.
We had decided to take two, three hours of good time. It’s sad not to be able to do things spontaneously. You always have to be connected, think six months in advance what you want to do, but you can’t always plan when you’re working… It’s a shame.
Because those who walk the exhibition this summer have often reserved their ticket one or even two months in advance. “I booked on the internet in presale. I saw the enthusiasm on social networks, I knew that the places were going to go quickly”says Manon, coming from Muret, about twenty kilometers from Toulouse.
360° projections, virtual reality… “The immersion is complete, it has to be done. It’s exceptional, I had never seen such an event in Toulouse, it’s a chance !” smiled the young woman.
Same opinion for Estelle, place accompanied by her daughters : “I find it very playful for children, it makes the exhibition lively compared to a classic exhibition. You feel bathed in the middle of the works.”
Anna, one of his daughters, looks admiringly at the paintings : “I find Van Gogh’s paintings very special and original. Sometimes I get a little emotional.”
A few meters away, Becky had heard about this exhibition from a friend living in England. “It made us want to come. It’s interesting for adults but also for children. Even my two-month-old baby loves the lights !” she jokes.
London, Berlin, Naples, Seattle… Since the launch of its tour in 2017, theexposure has indeed traveled well before settling in the Pink City.
This new way of putting art forward probably visitors. “On a quasi 1 000 visitors per day, it’s incredible”exclaims Julie Requena, co-responsible for the exhibition.
The audience is international : “There are a lot of people from the Toulouse region but also English and Spanish tourists…” says the co-organizer.
The visit lasts about an hour and costs from 15 euros for adults and 10 euros for children. The exhibition is to be discovered until Sunday, August 28th.
