Sports clubs can continue to water their pitches
The drought and heat of the past few weeks have also affected the grass pitches of the sports clubs. Therefore, many areas were irrigated, which was criticized by Hanoverians. However, the city of Hanover gives the all-clear.
Hanover. Temperatures around 30 degrees, little or no rain at all for weeks: the lawns are suffering from the summer phenomenon of the last few days, even if it has been raining a little longer and more heavily. Many sports clubs have their lawns regularly watered – which is not well received by everyone. Concerned Hanoverians noted that the frequent watering of the sports fields is probably at the expense of the groundwater. The trees in Eilenriede, for example, are affected as a result of the efficient watering of the pitch at VfL Eintracht Hannover.
However, the city gave the all-clear: “VfL Eintracht uses water from its well for irrigation. How and when he does this is his own responsibility,” says city spokesman Udo Möller. According to the contract with the city, the sports clubs are generally obliged to maintain their club sports facilities properly. “Regular care also includes watering the pitches, especially in the current weather conditions.”
