Sporting worries about FC Zurich
Super League – Basel and the Young Boys play 0-0 in the top game of the 4th round of the Super League. The chronically bad condition of champions FC Zurich will probably give more to talk about.
The 0:3 against Sion in the Letzigrund is a sobering defeat. The club around the new head coach Franco Foda is in the process of undercutting its worst values in the Super League era. The zero goals scored in the previous four championship games are a negative record anyway. And with the four games without a win, Zurich equalized their worst mark.
FCZ was better than Sion until the second half, but with Itaitinga scoring a double goal, the team scored 0:1 so together that they were soon 0:3 behind. The only advantage of the champions is that they have qualified for a European Cup group phase (Europa League or Conference League).
The 0-0 in the hit game Basel – YB is deceptive. Especially in the second half both teams had good chances for goals, also for several goals. The ball landed once on the edge of the goal.
FC Lugano showed a miserable first half in the 2-1 draw against Lucerne at home, reminiscent of the performance in the Conference League home game against Hapoel Be’er Sheva. The central Swiss would have led more clearly during the break & than with a single goal scored by Pius Dorn. From Lucerne’s point of view, it could have taken revenge. But youngster Nicky Beloko, brought in by Neuchâtel Xamax, scored the winning goal shortly before the end.
