Slovakia was not enough for Spain – qualification for the European Championship in volleyball 2023
TERUEL. The Slovak volleyball players failed in their second duel in the F-group of the qualifiers for the European Championship 2023. They lost easily 0:3 against the favored Spain in Teruel on Sunday.
In the end, they still have three points for their home triumph over Georgia 3:0, and they are third in the table.
The winners of the seven groups of four will advance directly to the final tournament, as well as the five best placed teams in second place.
At the head of the Slovakian group are the Spaniards with five points, while Hungary, in second place, has one less point.
It is Hungary that will be the next opponent of coach Marek Kardoš’s wards in the middle (at 19.00 hv Nitra).

The Spaniards had a better start to the match. They won 4:1 in the first set and gradually increased it to 18:10.
The guests struggled with serving and although they were able to get closer at 18:22 in the end, the opponent did not let them get any closer.
In the second act, the Slovak representatives improved in all game activities and took the lead for the first time in the meeting at 12:11.
However, the guests were careful until the score was 17:16, the end already belonged to the Spaniards. With a series of five winning balls, they reached 21:17 and later converted the very first set point.
The third set was clearly dominated by the hosts, who never lost in it. They gradually won 16:9 and did not allow the required drama at the end.
