Participating in the Volta a Portugal “is a career award”, says GNR captain
The Volta a Portugal by bicycle, which is on the road until the 15th of August, has an eventual transit detachment, from the National Republican Guard, which aims to maintain the safety of both cyclists and those who attend the race.
Captain Rui Costa (in the photo), from the National Republican Guard, says that “the eventual transit detachment that accompanies the return is composed of 27 GNR soldiers, distributed by 21 motorcycles and four light vehicles, with the support of territorial detachments. and traffic, as well as the PSP. This support becomes very important for us, all of us, to be able to maintain the safety of the entire race, the cyclists and all road users”.
The captain says that this “is a service in which the risks are increased, but the GNR does a preparatory work to keep everyone safe”.
Participating for the first time in the Volta a Portugal, the GNR ensures that the GNR soldiers stand out in turn to stand out, the captain will assume himself as “a captain for all soldiers who stand out for their eventual career” .
The Tour of Portugal by bicycle runs until the 15th of August.
