Fireworks banned in Toulouse, the feast of Saint-Jory affected
From August 5 to 8, 2022, the local festival agitates Saint-Jory. After a weekend of entertainment, Monday’s day will finally be canceled by the prefectural cancellation of the fireworks, which will affect Toulouse and Muret for nine days.
It’s a setback for the Saint-Joryens. Since August 5, the local festival is in full swing in the town of Saint-Jory (31). It had to end this Monday, August 8, 2022 by the traditional fireworks display, at Lac du Labou. But it won’t happen in the endindicated the town hall of Saint-Jory.
In effect, the prefect of Haute Garonne published an order on August 5, 2022, which bears “ temporary ban on all outdoor pyrotechnic activities, in particular the fireworks and burning of firebrands, in the arrondissements of Toulouse and Muret”. This decision applies from Monday August 8 (3 p.m.) to Tuesday August 16 (12 p.m.).
The reason behind this ban, which impacts the feast of Saint-Jory, is meteorological. Indeed, the prefectoral decision is motivated by the risk of fire due to drought combined with the forecast by Météo France of strong heat which will continue the week of Monday August 8.
The prefecture also notes that numerous outbreaks of fire have been observed for several days, including one in connection with a pyrotechnic show.
