an eco-guide to enjoy the creeks by rental boat
With one million visits per year by sea, the Calanques National Park wants to preserve its environment. This Saturday was the launch of the first eco-navigation guide for boat rental customers.
Discover the Calanques along the water, take advantage of the turquoise waters to cool off in the open sea, the period is conducive to marine walks. But the site is fragile and to preserve it, boaters must observe a few rules.
Particularly occasional boaters, those who are less aware of the right things to do at sea. For this, the Calanques National Park, in partnership with the Marseille clothing brand Kaporal and the rental companies of the 568 boats authorized for rental, have devised an eco-guide for doing some prevention.
This eco-guide was presented to the public on Saturday at the Old Port of Marseille where the rental boats are located.
Like many tourists, Nicolas Barra rented a boat to spend the day at sea.
But before leaving, make way for the rental company’s briefing. Map and educational booklet in hand, the pleasure can then leave to enjoy its day at sea.
“It’s very good, it’s very clear and it makes people aware of the fact that it is a natural park, and that it must be preserved as much as possible, even if we are quite familiar with the site since we lives here”, recognizes Nicolas Barra.
With 80 km of coastline to preserve, between Marseille, Cassis and La Ciotat, the Calanques National Park wishes to raise awareness among as many people as possible, so that everyone becomes an actor in its preservation.
“In this booklet you have a few regulatory reminders, but above all you have explanations on the issues of preservation, on the species that we will be able to encounter”details Nicolas Chardin
interim director of the Calanques National Park.
And it is the boat rental companies themselves who distribute the booklets and give explanations before departure.
“We also invite them to share the application Donia which makes it possible to locate in real time the zones of posidonia, the zones of sand and we advise them to wet in these zones there”Mathieu explains Morin
President of the association of nautical professionals of Marseille.
