The University of Innsbruck will be offering new courses from autumn
training
From autumn there will be some new study opportunities at the University of Innsbruck. There are five new master’s programs and one extension program in specific areas, ranging from philosophy to mathematics.
Religion from a philosophical point of view is offered by the new English-language master’s program “Philosophy of Religion” at the Faculty of Theology. There is also an English master’s degree in “Peace and Conflict Studies” on the subject of conflict and peace, but registrations for the admissions process here have already expired and it will not be possible to start again until next year. The course represents an extension and redesign of the previous university course “Peace, Development, Security and International Conflict Transformation”.
Comprehensive view of antiquity
The “Ancient Worlds” course is also new; it is intended to offer a comprehensive view of history from various perspectives. Particular attention is paid to the contacts between historical cultural areas, traditions and political structures. The resulting findings for the present also play a central role.
drug development
A new English-language master’s degree in “Pharmaceutical Sciences” for the development of new drugs is a cooperation between the University of Innsbruck and the Medical University of Innsbruck. Graduates should be able to plan, organize and implement projects in the context of modern drug development and to accompany them until they are approved for the market.
High-performance computers and the mathematics behind them
With the master’s degree in electrical engineering, there is continuous academic training in this field for the first time in western Austria. The University of Innsbruck and UMIT have been offering a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering since the 2018/19 winter semester. A new extension course “Scientific Computing” deals with mathematical modeling and the use of high-performance computers.
