Cologne band Höhner plays in Wacken – and the fans sing along
To update Wacken/Cologne Unusual guest appearances are a tradition in Wacken: the Cologne dialect band Höhner performed at the heavy metal festival for the first time on Saturday. The audience didn’t hesitate – and sang along.
Among other things, the Höhner play a cover version of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” with their own lyrics. The metalheads ended the concert with a lot of applause and also sang along with the songs. In the first row in front of the stage there were also a lot of “real” Cologne residents – including the flag of 1. FC Köln.
Singer Patrick Lück said before the concert that music is a language of its own that everyone understands. “That’s why we’re not worried that the audience won’t understand our music.”
In the Rhineland, the band brings regular festival halls to the boil with swayers like “Viva Colonia” and “Die Karawane Moves On”. The natural habitat of the Höhner are carnival stages with colorful confetti rain. In Wacken, on the other hand, the dominant color is usually black.
However, musicians from outside the heavy metal scene have also performed at the festival in recent years, such as Heino and Otto.
