The Fugitive Active Search Team (FAST) of the federal police arrested a fugitive on Friday. It concerns Damian Werengowski, who was set up in June by the Brussels court of assizes to be incarcerated next year for his coordination in the deadly punitive expedition against Michel Lenard from Brussels. Werengowski stripped off his anklet just before the announcement and then fled.
Michel Lenard was beaten up in his home in Ixelles on the night of 30 to 31 March 2019 by four armed and masked men, in front of his. The victim was stabbed during the raid and died of his injuries.
The investigation revealed that the ex-boyfriend of Lenard’s current girlfriend was behind the punitive expedition. The man, Jaroslaw Poplawksi, ordered Lenard “to teach a lesson” from prison in Poland. However, the jury of the Brussels court of assizes ruled that the man did not want the Brussels resident to die. The order was carried out on blows and blows resulting in death, without the plans to kill, premeditated.
Poplawski ended up with a five-year suspended sentence. One of the four other requests received punishment. Two others involved up to eighteen and sixteen years incarceration.
One of the co-perpetrators, the fifth problems, Damian Werengowski, got rid of his ankle band went wrong by the assize jury. He was no longer present when the sentence was announced and was sentenced to one year in prison in absentia. The man has been on the run since her arrest. The FAST of the federal police was granted to trace the man, which, after cooperation with the assistance team of the local zone (Gillis and Vorst), did not last Friday afternoon until his arrest.
The man was immediately sent to the prison of Saint-Gilles, where he will have to serve his sentence.
