With OM, Tudor wants to do like AC Milan! -Interview
What is your assessment of the preparation?
You sleep : “We worked well, I get on well with the players. It was a fairly short period, there are four to five players who arrived along the way, so for some I only worked two-three weeks with them. I think what interests you in your question are the results of friendly matches. I have been coaching for ten years, I have always said that there is a big difference between preparation and official matches. The results of official matches can be different from the freshness that you can have in friendly matches. This is not what I was looking for. I know that my style is very different from the previous coach. He It will take time to get used to it, I am aware of it and so are the players. We have prepared well this week, on Sunday we will need concrete results against a good team from Reims.”
Did you find it difficult to convey your demands to the group? Did you see a difference in the mindset of the players compared to what you experienced in Italy?
You sleep : “There are necessarily differences at the level of the players depending on the championships. But in the end, it’s not Italian, French or German football, it’s a coach’s. I’ve always believed that the results were obtained in fatigue, at the cost of a real effort, with a team that runs a lot. Football is evolving in this direction, we see that the teams which have more intensity and play more vertical are getting more results. The example is Pioli’s Milan. They have the game that we would like to obtain, a vertical game, with one against one, a lot of intensity. It’s a team that on the paper was announced 4th or 5th and they ended up champions. They understood that football was changing and they took players capable of sustaining this rhythm of play.
What was said during the meeting with Pablo Longoria?
You sleep : “It was something private. It stayed within the team, there’s no need to talk about it here. But it was something that had to be done, it was a good thing. had a good week of work in training. There is a good mentality on the part of the players, we feel that they want to.”
