emphasis on the short distance between Mafra and Lisbon and as excellent opportunities in terms of real estate
Although there is a great offer in the border municipalities or closer to Lisbon, such as Almada, Sintra, Oeiras, Odivelas, Cascais, Vila Franca de Xira or Amadora, the costs associated with these places always tend to rise. And it is for this reason that E-konomista has put together a list of other Portuguese locations that can also be close to the capital and that, from an economic point of view, can make a big difference in each one’s wallet.
Mafra enters this selection for its leisure and history options, due to the National Palace and its association with the emblematic work of José Saramago, “O Memorial do Convento”, as well as the short distance between the village and the capital (about 20 minutes by car) and the excellent opportunities in terms of real estate – different in terms of prices and available typologies.

Also on this list, there are places like Torres Vedras, Sesimbra, Setúbal and Caldas da Rainha as possible alternatives to the Lisbon bustle.
