This is clearly shown by the so-called seven-day incidence – the calculation of newly confirmed cases of covid per hundred thousand inhabitants over the last seven days. While nationwide on Friday this figure reached 141, in the capital (where the incidence number is within the republic) it was 186 and the highest in central Bohemia was 157. Optimistically, it appears that these numbers are decreasing compared to the fourth: on a national scale by 4, in Prague at 9 and in Central Bohemia at 3.
Hygienists’ message to parents from visits to summer camps: the children are doing quite well
In central Bohemia, as well as on a nationwide scale, newly confirmed cases of the disease showed an unmistakable downward trend. From Monday to Thursday: 581–436–352–299. If these numbers were entered into a graph, the national statistics would show similar shapes: 3440–3079–2671–2149. The weakening of the spread of the coronavirus is also evidenced by the sum of new cases for the first four days of the week. In Central Bohemia from August 1 to 4, the total was 1,668, while a week ago, from July 25 to 28, the total reached 1,825. The nationwide numbers now reach 11,339, while a week ago it was 12,552. However, the truth is , that it is currently being tested even less.
The decline is now visible day by day
The situation is a little different in the metropolis. The Prague totals for this week reach the value of 1851. If it was 2301 a week ago, the decrease is also obvious; mathematically even significant. However, the chain from Monday to Thursday of this week does not show the downward trend so vividly: 509–528–483–331.
However, it is difficult to derive estimates for the future from current findings. For example, in secondary schools last year in the middle of summer, the incidence of covid was twice as low as it is now – and it is still well remembered what kind of coronavirus calamity came in the winter. The number of people with proven infection increased twenty-fold in early December compared to early August – and even thirty-seven times this February.

Compared to last week, the number of deaths in which it is recorded that it was a patient with proven covid is now decreasing. In central Bohemia, there were four deaths from Monday to Thursday; one each day. There were six people in Prague, while the most such deaths – three – are recorded for Tuesday, August 2. On the contrary, a day later, on Wednesday, not a single one was recorded. However, these numbers may increase with further updates.
In vaccination, Central Bohemia has overtaken Prague
In vaccination against covid, Prague has long been a prize winner. If a total of 6,346 doses of the vaccine were administered nationwide on Thursday, the capital accounted for almost 15 percent of that: 938 injections. After initial hesitation, the more populous Central Bohemia is starting to keep up; they registered 981, which represents a share even 0.68 percentage points higher. Predominantly interested parties who come for a strengthening dose; especially about the second one.
