SAUDIA launches first direct connection between Riyadh and Zurich in cooperation with the Air Connectivity Program
Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA), the Kingdom’s flag carrier, in partnership with the Air Connectivity Program, inaugurated the first direct flight to its new international destination of Zurich, Switzerland.
On this occasion, SAUDIA organized an opening ceremony at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh in the presence of the Ambassador of Switzerland to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Andreas Schaller, SAUDIA Chief Commercial Officer Arved Nikolaus Von Zur Muehlen, VP Strategy & Communication of Air Connectivity Program Sultan Otaify and VP of Route Development Anita Gackowska, as well as a number of government officials.
A ribbon opening the new route was cut at the departure gate and SAUDIA staff bid farewell to the travelers.
Mr. Von Zur Muehlen, CCO of SAUDIA, stated: “With the continued support of the Air Connectivity Program, we at SAUDIA look forward to beginning passenger service on this milestone route, leveraging our fleet of 150 premium aircraft to offer the best possible service to travelers to and from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
Sultan Otaify, the vice president of strategy and communications for the Air Connectivity Program, pointed out that this type of local partnership lays the foundation for a number of future partnerships aimed at supporting and stimulating the aviation sector, enabling new air routes and to increase the pace, which ideas for the development of tourism in the kingdom.
The plane was greeted with a water fountain to welcome the first direct flight from Saudi Arabia at Zurich International Airport, where SAUDIA held another celebration for the return flight from Zurich to Riyadh to connect this part of the world with the Kingdom. At the event, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Switzerland, Dr. Adel Siraj Mirdad, and SAUDIA Europe Regional Manager Hisham Bindkhail.
SAUDIA’s new route from Riyadh to Zurich will further utilize the airline’s extensive fleet and offer guests a range of convenient check-in methods, first-class onboard services, and a comfortable flight experience that reflects the airline’s commitment to excellence.
