Florence: at Villa Vogel the Compagnia Granteatrino di Bari in “Hansel and Gretel”, free admission
Wednesday 3 August at 9.30 pm
FLORENCE – Wednesday 3 August at 9.15 pm, in the green of Park of Villa Vogel (Via A. Canova, 72, Florence), the historic puppet company I Pupi di Stac has invited another important analogue company, the Granteatrino of Bari, to stage the fable of Hansel and Gretel (free admission; recommended age 3-8 years); a good initiative for children who are still in the city.
The Granteatrino company brings a scene to one of the most famous tales of the Brothers Grimm and does so with its characteristic style, combining the classic story with the joy of the puppets in the shack and the unmistakable illustrator Nicoletta Costa. In fact, her puppets and scenes reproduce the settings and characters she designed. The result is very positive, as evidenced by the many replicas that the company continues to represent throughout Italy.
The show alternates magical and fantastic atmospheres with scenes of pure fun and, through the narration, deals with themes of great symbolic value such as the fear of abandonment and loneliness.
Emotions that will be found for the protagonists of the story in a wonderful opportunity for knowledge and growth: the two children will in fact transform the courage to face great difficulties. The fairy tale highlights some childhood fears, including that of being devoured; but the ending is liberating thanks to the victory over the most threatening enemy: the wicked witch.
The representation alternates large animated puppets, made unique by colors, with soft and colorful shapes, to puppets.
The genre used in itself are the characteristics and functions of the classic fairy tale and puppet “gags” that arise from unexpected and funny situations.
