The Institute of Food Science received recognition
Debrecen – The organizational unit of the Faculty of Agriculture earned the recognition as a member of the network called Biology, Biotechnology and Food Sciences: improving the quality of life in the Central European region.
The Institute of Food Science of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food Science and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen received the CEEPUS Ministerial Award. The organizational unit of the Faculty of Agriculture earned the recognition as a member of the network called Biology, Biotechnology and Food Sciences: improving the quality of life in the Central European region.
One of the main goals of the Biology, Biotechnology and Food Sciences network is to improve the quality of higher education in the fields of biology, biotechnology, food processing and safety, quality control, nutrition, and economics and environmental protection.
In order to achieve this, through the CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Program for University Studies) scholarship program, instructors and students have the opportunity to participate in mobilities, language and professional courses, and summer universities, writes the unideb.hu.
– It is extremely important for the Institute of Food Science of the University of Debrecen that its teachers and students gain international professional experience. Within the framework of the CEEPUS program, many foreign professionals visited our faculty and gave lectures. Within the framework of the partnership, there is the possibility of such mobilities and visits abroad that promote our research, which greatly stimulates the efficiency of our institution – Ferenc Peles, university assistant professor of the Institute of Food Science at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food Science and Environmental Management, university coordinator of the program, told hirek.unideb.hu.
The main strength of the network is that it offers a broad collaboration of specialist fields and effectively connects researchers and educators active in basic and applied sciences.
The Central European higher education exchange program also pays special attention to research activities and to the support of joint doctoral programs.
– Several joint educational and research projects are outlined through the partnership. We would like to make the possibilities inherent in the CEEPUS application better known to the BSc, MSc and PhD students of our faculty, as well as to our lecturers and research colleagues, and to continue the successful cooperation with the foreign partner institutions within the network. The positive feedback about the work we have already done gives new impetus to the tasks ahead of us – added Ferenc Peles.
The Ministerial Award will be presented by Secretary General Michael Schedl to the leading coordinators of the networks in 2023, at the ministerial conference in Warsaw.
