Elliott pushed the Liverpool player to full-time The Kop last night
Harvey Elliott has encouraged The Kop to sing for Fabio Carvalho after the new Liverpool player’s debut at Anfield last night.
The evening did not go as planned as Liverpool lost 3-0 to Strasbourg. But according to Theo Squires, Liverpool Echo reporter on TwitterElliott could be seen whipping the end of the Kop to support Carvalho at the final whistle.
Both teenagers played the full 90 minutes as Liverpool’s young side couldn’t match their more experienced opponents.
There will be better times for Carvalho at Anfield, that’s for sure. Despite the result, it’s surely a moment the 19-year-old will remember forever.
Carvalho shows glimpses of what’s to come
Carvalho has been one of the real highlights of Liverpool’s pre-season campaign. The youngster may have failed to score during the friendlies but it wasn’t for the habit of trying.
He continually looked a threat to Liverpool while playing in a hodgepodge of different teams.

Jurgen Klopp has mostly used him from the left of a front three, and Carvalho has shown plenty of glimpses of his talent. However, it’s also abundantly clear that this may not be his best long-term position for Liverpool.
Not only are Liverpool not short of options for the role, but Carvalho may not have the pace usually associated with wide players at the Reds.
There’s more than a hint of Philippe Coutinho about him, and the Brazilian has done some of his best work from deeper positions.
This may be where the Portuguese prospect will end up playing. Like Elliott, he’s as technically gifted as they come. It’s easy to see him thriving alongside Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara in midfield.
For now though, there is no need to rush the young man. The early signs have indeed been very promising, but having not yet reached his twentieth birthday, Carvalho will have plenty of time to find his feet at Anfield.
The warm-up is over, now it’s time to start the real stuff.
