Youth group from Büren visits Austria
In this way, the town twinning should be filled with life on a youth level. This year, a total of 15 young people and supervisors made their way to the well-known mountain region from July 14th to 22nd.
Accommodated in a self-catering house close to the center, many daily activities such as a visit to the Ferleiten Zoo, exploring the Krimml Waterfalls or a city trip to Salzburg were on the program over the nine days. Visiting the soccer friendly match between Schalke 04 and Augsburg, who met during their training camp in Austria, and climbing the Resterkogel, including the Bürener Kreuz built in 2008, were special highlights during the stay.
A constant companion since 2018 and contact person is the youth club “timeout” in Mittersill led by employee Ramona Steger. Joint barbecues and small events in the youth center bring young people from Austria and Germany together quickly and ensure a lively partnership among the adolescents.
Already requests for next year
“The trip to Mittersill is an absolute highlight for the young people every year. I find it particularly gratifying that, in addition to their vacation, the young people can do a large part to maintain the friendship between Mittersill and Büren and that they always do so with great enthusiasm,” says Jan Hoffmeister, head of the vacation campaign. There are already inquiries about next year’s trip, so it is very likely that the five-year anniversary of the town partnership visit can be celebrated next year.
