an online survey to understand the needs of cross-border commuters
Access to care: what are we talking about?
Families of cross-border workers benefit from a special scheme since they are both covered by the CNS (Luxembourg National Health Fund) and by Social Security if they reside in France. They can therefore consult, be hospitalized and carry out their health journeys in both countries, while being assured of having their health costs reimbursed.
What problems can arise?
Although the border is not a barrier for the thousands of cross-border workers who cross it every day, it is more restrictive in terms of access to healthcare. Family situations (divorce, marriage, change of profession, etc.) may, on a case-by-case basis, lead to difficulties in terms of access to and follow-up of care: CNS/CPAM affiliation, reimbursements, appointments, etc. A typical case is that of a divorced couple, one of whom works in Luxembourg. Questions relating to the affiliation of children come up often”, explains Marine Yeral, project manager at Gect Alzette-Belval.
What is the purpose?
The data collected will be transmitted to the competent national authorities so that they can address the problems. So that in the long term, and “as far as possible”, specifies the GECT, “they could provide answers”.
The questionnaire is available online on the GECT website: gectalzettebelval.eu until October 1.
