Mickey Mouse disembarks in the port of Bilbao
The ‘Disney Magic’ cruise, inspired by the animation factory, arrives for the first time in the territory with more than a thousand passengers on board
This Thursday the most famous Disney characters have brought the magic of their universe to the Getxo pier. Around 7:00 a.m., the cruise inspired by the animated films of one of the most powerful factories in the world has docked in the port of Bilbao in the first ship with these characteristics that arrives in the territory of Bizkaia.
From the ‘Disney Magic’, which is how the ship is known, 1,257 passengers have disembarked and have been able to enjoy a few hours in the surroundings of the Biscayan capital. The cruise ship left Barcelona on July 23 and has circled the peninsula making stops in Cartagena, Porto, A Coruña and Bilbao. From here they will depart for Dover, in England, where this journey through Spain and Portugal will conclude.
After docking in Getxo, the tourists on board have enjoyed the traditional excursions designed for this type of trip. Among them are the usual walk through the corners of the Guggenheim or the visit to Gernika, although others have chosen to visit the Loizaga Tower and the Pozalagua cave.
Mice, princesses and jedis
The ship, 300 meters long, is decorated with the settings that have been part of the company’s most iconic productions and on board passengers, crew and well-known characters such as the mouse couple formed by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck , the Disney princesses and more recent ones such as the protagonists of the latest installments of Star Wars.
A travel plan designed for the little ones to enjoy activities that transport them to a world of fantasy. The animation industry cruise, which left Bilbao at 5:00 p.m., is the first to be seen in the territory. Although this ship was planned to arrive in the Basque Country a couple of years ago, the pandemic changed the planes and it was not until this summer that the residents of the town came across such a ship. However, they would meet another similar one in January 2023, according to the company’s forecasts.
