An Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund will be created in the Republic of Moldova. Project voted in the second reading – DOC – Ziarul de Gardă
The Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund will be established in the Republic of Moldova. The draft law on its creation was voted on Thursday, July 28, in the second reading. The objective of the fund will be to prevent and combat the energy vulnerability of the population and increase energy efficiency, according to the Parliament.
According to the voted document, monthly compensation is to be instituted for vulnerable consumers for the payment of thermal energy in the centralized system, for the consumption of electricity and natural gas.
It is also proposed to grant subsidies for the efficiency of the consumption of energy resources. The “Energy Vulnerability” Information System will be created, which will be intended for the accumulation of information on the energy vulnerability parameters of household consumers and the management of the mechanism for granting subsidies.
According to the project, which was proposed by the Government, the funding sources of the Fund will be the means of the state budget and European funds or other external sources. Its size will be approved by the annual state budget law.
The Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund Law will enter into force on September 1, 2022.
