The head of Rospotrebnadzor over the increase in the incidence of coronavirus, but the number of hospitalizations increased slightly – Russia |
July 25th. Interfax-Russia.ru – In the Russian Federation, against the backdrop of the emergence of new more contagious sub-variants of the alleged increase in the incidence, said the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.
“Given the situation, which, as we observe, as predicted, with the advent of new highly contagious genes due to the “omicron”, is certainly an extremely common incidence rate,” Popova told reporters on Monday.
She also said that in the Russian Federation there was a “completely significant” increase in the replenishment of the bed fund.
“We see that the circulation is not very heavy,” Popova said.
She also said that test sensitivity in Russia occurs in people with new sub-variants of the Omicron strain.
“Our tests, which are used in the Russian Federation (…), they are able to find all the new omicron genes, here we are absolutely protected,” Popova added.
Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor reported that in Russia there was an increase in the proportion of new sub-variants “omicron” BA.4 and BA.5 in strains, which are characterized by high infectiousness. At the same time, as noted by the department, a significant change in the number of cases of occurrence and hospitalization due to the spread of new sub-options is unlikely. The introduction of any anti-epidemic restrictions in the Russian Federation against the backdrop of an increase in the number of new cases of COVID-19 is not required, the department notes.
