Several world champions back at the Monaco meeting
The traditional Meeting Herculis, which will take place on August 10 at the Stade Louis II in Monaco, will be an opportunity for several world champions to return to competition.
Some meeting records on hold
Like her two compatriots, Sydney McLaughlin, undisputed queen of the 400m hurdles after breaking her world record in Eugene (50”68), will return to the Principality for the first time since 2019, where she won in 53” 32. This year, she could break the Monegasque meeting record, held since 2009 by Lashinda Demus (in 52”63).
Note also the presence of Norah Jeruto in the 3,000m steeplechase, who won in 8’53”03 at the Worlds, and of Faith Kipyegon, double Olympic and world champion in the 1,500m. In the long jump, Yulimar Rojas, indoor world record holder with 15.74m, will aim for the meeting record set by Caterine Ibargüen in 2014 (with 15.31m).
In the high jump, the triple world champion Mutaz Barshim has an appointment with the Italian Gianmarco Tamberi, 2nd in Tokyo but only 4th in Oregon. Finally, in the javelin, all eyes will be on Kelsey-Lee Barber, who retained his world title with a throw of 66.91m.
