Alexander Köll prematurely ended his career
Innsbruck/Stockholm – The Swedish ski racer Alexander Koell ended his sporting career. For him, this decision is the hardest of his life. A neck injury has affected his vision.
In December 2020 he fell during a training session. The member of the Drei-Kronen-Team has not fully recovered from this injury to this day. The whiplash he experienced has affected his vision. So the decision to hang up the skiers is more than just understandable and logical.
Even if the decision is difficult, it was easy at the same time. Köll said he didn’t get the feedback he needed from his body after the injury. He knows you have to be 100 percent in shape to perform.
His teammate Felix Monsen lives like Köll in Tyrol; both trained together and took part in a race. Monsén appreciates the closeness, although he freely admits that a race WILL be different without his friend.
Köll, born in Matrei in Osttirol in 1990, contested all races for Austria up until the 2009/10 season. After this time leaders for Sweden. The athlete made his World Cup debut in December 2015 at the Super-G in Val Gardena. He was Swedish champion three times; Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to win the World or European Cup.
