Prague – The American band Pearl Jam canceled its Friday performance in Prague at the O2 arena. Frontman Eddie Vedder has sore vocal cords after inhaling dust and smoke from nearby wildfires at the Lollapalooza festival in France over the weekend. Visitors will receive money for purchased tickets back at the point of purchase, she said of her band instagram profile.
“They were hoping that Ed would recover before tomorrow’s (Friday) performance. We visited a doctor in Prague and are continuing treatment, unfortunately he still has no voice,” the band announced to the fans, to whom they offer a “sincere apology”. “We have always had memorable shows here at your place and we are just as deeply disappointed as you,” Pearl Jam wrote.
The Prague concert is already the second that the band had to cancel due to Vedder’s problems with his vocal cords. Wednesday’s concert in Vienna also did not take place. According to the band, the frontman’s voice was damaged by the 40-degree heat, dust and smoke during a July 17 performance near Paris.
Pearl Jam was formed in 1990 in Seattle, USA, where Soundgarden and Alice in Chains also come from. Despite their disputes with the “music establishment” such as Ticketmaster, the band became one of the most popular musical acts of the 1990s. Together with Nirvana, they are among the main representatives of the grunge rock music style, to the development of which Pearl Jam significantly contributed in 1991 with their album Ten, which contains hits such as Alive, Jeremy and Even Flow.
