Covid: contaminations, hospitalizations, where are we in Calvados?

After a month of June and a first fortnight of July 2022 marked by the resurgence of cases of covidthe impact in the Calvados has finally dropped, announces the Regional Health Agency (ARS) this Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
Down… but less than elsewhere in Normandy
The rate was 1,025.6 cases per 100,000 population on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, down 10.8% from the last health update a week earlier. However, Calvados remains the only department in the region where the incidence remains above 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. By way of comparison, Normandy as a whole is at 843 cases (down 24.5% compared to the point of July 13, 2022), the Channel at 785 and the Orne at 776.
Hospitalizations on the rise in Calvados
Regarding hospitalizations, the Normandy region as a whole is experiencing an increase. As of July 18, 1,281 people are hospitalized (1,113 last week), including 45 in intensive care (44 at the last update).
This is also the case in Calvados. Last week (July 12), the ARS recorded 127 hospitalizations, including 7 in intensive care. In the point of July 20, she mentions 183, including 8 in intensive care.
Wearing a mask recommended
The ARS advises to always respect barrier gestures, and to wear a mask in certain situations. “Wearing a mask is highly recommended and necessary in situations of great promiscuity, in closed and poorly ventilated places, such as public transport, and in particular in the presence of fragile people. It is also recommended for the most vulnerable people, ”says the authority.
