CoBe chosen by environmentalists to implement the last stage of the Confluence district
The last sequence of the Lyon Confluence project begins.
And the elected environmentalists intend to leave their mark on this district initiated by Gérard Collomb.
This Tuesday, the SPL Lyon Confluence announced that it had appointed the town planner CoBe to implement the final stage of the urban project, at the forefront of the 2nd arrondissement. A real jackpot!
CoBe thus succeeds Herzog and de Meuron (2010-2016) and Atelier Ruelle (2016-2022). His role will be to accompany the SPL interpreted by Grégory Doucet “in the translation of the inflections generated by the elected officials of the City of Lyon, the Metropolis of Lyon and their services, in order to reveal the emergence and development of a neighborhood that is united, lively, creative and committed to the climate transition “.
If CoBe was chosen, it is because it ticked all the boxes in the specifications.
Under his impetus, the promoters of future Confluence buildings will have more demanding requirements, with a design that will integrate greening and the preservation of biodiversity. And which will favor the use of biosourced and local materials.
The new operational town planner must also “be part of a process of innovation, continuous improvement in the ways of doing things and replicability” and “mobilize the qualities of listening and dialogue as well as an ability to integrate a process of shared development of the project with the various parties concerned”.
“We seized this mission as an opportunity to approach the South of Confluence by crossing all aspects of its redevelopment, in order to achieve the objectives of the sustainable and low-carbon city: mutability, decompartmentalization, inclusiveness, diversity and energy frugality”reacted Alexandre Jonvel, associate urban architect at CoBe.
The remaining land is mainly to the south of the Hôtel de Région. The next big step is the reopening of the Marché-Gare at the start of the school year. The establishment, labeled current music scene (SMAC), will now be able to accommodate 400 people in 1,600 m2.
