James stays in Monaco
After a successful first season in the colors of Monaco, Mike James has finally opted to stay in the Principality with a new contract for the next two years.
Mike James and Monaco, the story is far from over. Arrived in the workforce of the “Roca Team” last September, after breaking his contract with CSKA Moscow, with a commitment relating only to the 2021-2022 season, the native of Portland was a leader of the Monegasque club vice-champion of France and eliminated at the gates of the Final Four of the Euroleague a year after winning the Eurocup. With a stat line of 16.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game in 38 Euroleague games played, Mike James got a bit more notice on the continental scene and his future under Sasa Obradovic was anything but certain despite the reinforcements announced for the Principality club, including Elie Okobo and even Adrien Moerman. However, the leaders of AS Monaco have found the arguments to make the difference.

James, symbol of Monegasque ambition
Indeed, via a press release, the “Roca Team” confirmed on Thursday that Mike James, “natural leader of the team”, would remain in its ranks. The American leader has signed a two-year contract, which runs until June 2024. “Convinced by the asemist project, and the recruitment that is announced, Mike James wants to aim even higher for the coming season with the firm intention of reaching the Final Four of the Euroleague, and winning the title of champion of France”, announces the Monegasque club in the same press release. ASM thus intends to continue to hold the dragee high in Betclic Elite at ASVEL, which gave Nando de Colo or Amine Noua, despite the departure of Paris Lee for Panathinaikos. Moreover, after a first successful experience in Euroleague, the “Roca Team” does not intend to stop there next season.
