BILBAO, 11 Jul. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Bilbao City Council has started this Monday the improvement works of the municipal football fields of La Roseta, in Errekalde, and Aitxarte, in Abusu. The total investment will amount to more than 682,000 euros.
In a note, the Consistory has reported that, in both cases, the main intervention will consist of replacing the artificial grass on the playing fields, with one of higher quality and resistance, although the works also include other improvements in elements such as the fence or the stands.
The works in the two fields began this Monday and are expected to last for 8 weeks, until mid-September.
The objective of these works is to “maintain and guarantee” the quality and good condition of the municipal sports structures of the Villa. These improvement works will be carried out through the Bilbao Kirolak company and the planned investment exceeds 682,000 euros.
As for the La Roseta pitch, Bilbao Kirolak will replace the artificial grass with one of better quality and greater resistance to deterioration caused by aging.
The replacement of the lawn will make it possible to intervene on the surface to correct problems of waterlogging and improve the drainage of rainwater.
The surface of the field will be filled with sand and rubber to give homogeneity to the field of play. In addition, the current irrigation cannons will be relocated, so that they will be raised on padded columns to avoid hits in the casts of the game.
Likewise, the marquee, the perimeter fence, the railings and the seats of the stands that are not in good condition will be changed.
Finally, with regard to sports equipment: a set of 11-a-side soccer goals and 4 pennants will be placed, as well as two complete sets of 7-a-side soccer goals. The investment in this Errekalde municipal field amounted to 404,694 euros. The works will conclude in mid-September.
AITXARTE
As for the Aitxarte football field, located in Abusu, its artificial turf will also be replaced by one of higher quality and resistance as well.
In this case, the substitution will be used to repair some sinking and bulging in the pavement. The existing irrigation system will also be modified by high-reaching aerial cannons raised on columns. Likewise, a set of 11-a-side soccer goals and four pennants will be placed, as well as a set of 7-a-side soccer folding goals.
To develop these improvements, Bilbao Kirolak will invest 277,616 euros in this action. The works started this Monday also have a completion forecast in 8 weeks, around mid-September.
