According to the Thursday article of the judoinfo.hu magazine, András Nagy, the secretary general of the Hungarian association, said:
“Kristián is completely fine, symptom-free, but unfortunately he cannot step on the mats at the Grand Slam tournament. The national team also lost its leader, as the result of technical director Kijosi Murakami was also positive,” he added. With the elimination of Tóth, the domestic team was reduced to 28 members.
Gábor Pánczél, the World Cup silver medalist master of excellence, said:
“Kristián still trained in the morning, then he went for the test, there is nothing wrong with him except that the test gave a positive result. Unfortunately, it turned out this way, but the Paris Olympics will not depend on it, we are confident that we will get over it soon, and maybe he will be able to compete at the Grand Prix in Zagreb,” explained the head coach of MTK Budapest.
In the meantime, the entire French women’s national team also withdrew from the first European Olympic qualification competition, because the tests carried out before departure showed the presence of the virus in several competitors and crew members. In the French women’s team, three Olympic champions and three World Championship gold medalists also prepared (in vain) for the competition in Budapest.
The fights of the three-day Grand Slam match will start on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Papp László Sportarena, where entry is free for spectators, but prior registration is required.
