Zurich City Council decides on partial revision Riedhof
The school room in the Höngg district is to be secured with an extension. To this end, the city of Zurich decides on the necessary revision of the building and zoning regulations.
In order to be able to provide sufficient school space in the Höngg district in the future, the space available at the Riedhof-Pünten school unit is to be supplemented with an extension for 21 classes at the beginning of the 2028 school year.
In order to create the planning basis for this expansion, a partial revision of the building and zoning regulations (BZO) is necessary. This has now been approved by the city council and referred to the municipal council.
Previously, the BZO partial revision “Riedhof” was publicly presented from March 23 to May 24, 2022 in Amtshaus IV. No objections were received during the period of publication.
Extension of the sensitive school complex
The existing facility is located in the Oe4F zone for public buildings and facilities. For the planned extension and the outdoor facilities operated by the school, the northern, still undeveloped part of the school property and the western adjoining urban property are claimed.
This plot with an area of 1200 square meters is located in the residential zone W3 and therefore needs to be rezoned into the zone for public buildings Oe4F.
On the plotted area of more than 8600 square meters in the residential zone W3, a residential development – also as an area development – remains possible.
The existing Riedhof school complex is considered an outstanding example of a pavilion school. It is in the municipal inventory of the Garden Monument Preservation and Monument Preservation and, according to the Commission for the Preservation of Monuments, meets the criteria for a protected object.
The school complex should therefore be preserved except for the kindergarten, which was built later, and supplemented with an extension.
