Zamora Company (Ramón Bilbao) boosted 28% of its turnover in 2021, up to 220 million euros

Zamora Company closed 2021 with a turnover of 220 million euros, which represents an improvement of 28% compared to the results of 2020 and 5.8% compared to 2019, as reported this Wednesday in a statement.
In this way, the group that owns Licor 43, Ramón Bilbao or Martin Miller’s has exceeded the activity registered in the year prior to the pandemic and has boosted the organic growth of its business in all distribution channels and markets.
By activity divisions, the spirits area accounted for 57% of total sales in 2021, while the wine area contributed the remaining 43%.
As for the markets, the group’s sales in Spain represented 50% of the total turnover in 2021. Its growth in the Food channel was 35% and the Horeca channel recovered a large part of its turnover, values close to those of 2019.
The company’s domestic market grew by 25% compared to 2020, while the international area increased by 32% year-on-year.
On its side, the gross operating result (Ebitda) stood at 42.7 million euros, 59% more than that registered during 2020.
“The figures reflect excellent results for both brands and markets”, highlighted the CEO of Zamora Company, Javier Pijoan, who assured that the company’s performance “is really positive in a year marked by the impact on the channel of hospitality of the Covid-19 pandemic and the global difficulties of the supply chain”.
The brands that grew the most compared to 2020 were Licor 43, Ramón Bilbao and Mar de Frades. Specifically, Licor 43 achieved a 37% increase in net sales in 2021. Ramón Bilbao wines increased their turnover by 22% and Mar de Frades obtained a rise of 23%.
The company closed 2021 with three own wine brands (Ramón Bilbao, Mar de Frades and Cruz de Alba), and seven spirits brands (Licor 43, Martin Miller’s Gin, Lolea, Yellow Rose, Zoco, El Afilador and Villa Massa). In addition, the company distributes Rum Matusalem and Champagne Pommery. Since 2020, the company has been marketing Don Papa Rum in the USA and this year it has begun to distribute, also in the North American market, Mezcal San Cosme.
In 2021, the company added new references to its global portfolio. Among them, Limit Norte and Limit Sur by Ramón Bilbao, RTD Cocktail 43 Fresco, and RTD Carajillo 43 in Mexico stand out. These launches respond to the innovation strategy followed by the company to respond to new demands and trends in the global consumption of wines and spirits.
Zamora Company is working on the definition of its next Strategic Plan 2023-2025, which will contribute to the main objectives for the next three years. Likewise, the company will continue to respond to current consumer trends through a portfolio of premium brands that are benchmarks in innovation and quality.
