Toulouse. The world tour of fake news at the Quai des Savoirs
Fake news sends the world upside down. In an invigorating book, journalist Doan Bui and cartoonist Leslie Plée embark on a world tour of fake news. A selection of large format plates is exhibited in front of the Quai des Savoirs throughout the summer. A healthy visit to relearn how to sharpen your critical mind!
From climate change skeptics to flat earthers, from Eastern European click factories to Donald Trump, the No. 1 propagator of alternative “truths”, fake news is everywhere.
Throughout the summer, the Quai des Savoirs exhibits a selection of plates taken from the book by journalist Doan Bui and cartoonist Leslie Plée, Fake news, the info that does not turn round, on the Matilda alley.
This exhibition, free and accessible to all, will be visible until February 2023. We will learn in particular that for flat-earth people, the earth is flat and covered with a dome. In the center is the North Pole and all around is a large wall of ice. A theory all the same supported by 16% of Americans and 9% of French!
But we will also learn how to thwart this false information and unmask preconceived ideas. To go further, the exhibition Esprit critique, think again! is open until November 6 in the great hall of the Quai des Savoirs.
Exhibition taken from the book originally published in French under the title Fake News, the info that does not turn round, by Doan Bui and Leslie Plée – Delcourt 2021 editions.
In partnership with the Colomiers Comic Strip Festival and in addition to the Esprit critique exhibition, think again! at the Quai des Savoirs until 6 November.
