Thessaloniki: An Interpol wanted man was arrested for importing drugs into the USA
A 46-year-old citizen of Bahrain who was arrested in Thessaloniki, is registered by the US authorities for importing drugs.
Specifically, an Interpol red notice was issued against the 46-year-old and extradition to the USA is requested. According to the New York prosecutor’s office, the 46-year-old smuggler brought 6 kilograms of heroin into the US territory, while he is allegedly planning to import another ton of this drug. As reported in Grtimes.gr, the extradition request examined today by the Appeals Council of Thessaloniki, based on the agreement between Greece and the USA.

“I’m helping some drug dealers in my country. 30% of the population does this job. But I’m not trying to import heroin into the US. The US DEA Agent set me up. He told me to send him a sample. I took the responsibility to send them to Africa. The Americans who were receiving them but I don’t know if they would ship to the US or to third countries. The discussions took place in Greece,” claimed the 46-year-old from Bahrain.
According to the indictment, there were two meetings with the American agents, in Greece, concerning two deliveries of drugs (4 and 2 kilograms of heroin) to South Africa and Mozambique. The district attorney proposed the extradition of the wanted man, who is charged with conspiracy and importing drugs into the US. “Preparatory actions were taken in Greece,” said the public prosecutor’s office. The Appeals Council of Thessaloniki will issue a relevant decision next week.
