The Netherlands is the largest importer of Brazilian agriculture in the EU
Between 2019 (pre-corona) and 2021, the Dutch import of agricultural goods from Brazil with a 19 percent gain to 3.5 billion euros and 9 percent by weight to 5.9 billion kilograms. In particular, the Brazilian export of soybeans has grown in value due to both a larger import volume and a sharp price increase.
In 2021, the Netherlands was the largest importer of agricultural goods from Brazil within the EU. Spain follows at a great distance (2.4 billion euros), Germany (2.3 billion)Italy (1.5 billion) and France (1.0 billion† The Netherlands mainly imports soybeans, soy meal, fruit juices, fruit and meat. Spain imports more soybeans from Brazil than the Netherlands, but with the exception of other agricultural goods. Germany mainly focuses on the import of Brazilian coffee. No coffee goes directly from Brazil to the Netherlands.
About four fifths of Brazilian agriculture eventually ends up abroad: directly as re-export of indirect processing in the Netherlands into new products.

Brazil largest EU supplier of agricultural goods
Brazil was the largest supplier of agricultural goods from outside the EU in 2021. Close follows former EU member United Kingdom, which, among other things, supplies a lot of drunk to the EU countries. This is followed by the United States (among soybeans and nuts, other Norway (almost only fish), China (including fish and seafood), Ukraine (mainly corn and sunflower oil), Indonesia (mainly soybean meal), Turkey (including fruit) and Russia ( especially wood).
However, most agricultural trade took place within the EU. If this trade is included, the Netherlands was the largest agricultural supplier to the EU, followed by Germany, France and Spain.

Brazil overtakes Germany as third export
In 2021, Brazilian agricultural exports increased 19 percent compared to 2020, surpassing Germany as the third largest agricultural export in the world. The differences are minimal (106.4 billion at 105.7 billion dollars in 2021). the United States (196.0 billion dollar in 2021) was the largest agricultural export, followed by the Netherlands (125.2 billion dollars in 2021).
The Netherlands exports a lot of its own agriculture, but also owes its high export position to re-exports and the processing of agricultural imports for its own export.
