On Saturday 2nd July, Iggy Pop performed with Liam Gallagher at ‘Release Athens’ in Water Square.
Iggy Pop has been forced to cancel two shows of his European tour “due to a problem with his voice” which appeared at his recent concert in Athens.
After initially postponing his July 5th concert at the Esedra of Palazzo Te in Mantua, Italy, the 75-year-old singer has now also postponed his July 7th concert at the Konzerthus in Vienna, Austria.
The Mantua concert will take place on August 30, while the Vienna concert will take place on September 2.
Iggy Pop issued the following statement about the Mantova concert: “If you were there, you know I rocked my last concert in Greece and my voice is still coming together.”
“I have to postpone my next concert in Mantua, Italy on July 5,” he continued.
“I did not make this decision of the heart lightly. I love my fans. But I have to protect my voice. I’m very sorry, but I’ll come back and make amends,” he said.
Iggy Pop appeared together with Liam Gallagher on Saturday July 2nd at Water Square as part of “Release Athens 2022”, in one of the biggest and most anticipated concerts of this summer.
The “godfather of punk” opened his program with the song “TV Eye” from The Stooges’ second album, “Fun House”, released in 1970.
He then also performed the punk rock band’s songs like ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’, ‘I’m Sick of You’ and ‘Death Trip’.
Also, Iggy Pop sang for the Greek audience classic songs from his solo career such as “The Passenger” and “Lust For Life”.
After completing his set with ‘Search and Destroy’, Iggy Pop took to the Water Square stage for an encore of ‘Gimme Danger’, ‘Down On The Street’, ‘Fun House’ and ‘Sister Midnight’.
Iggy Pop also apologized to the Greek public for the problem he faced with his voice and appearance.
