Florence, tram failure: 2-hour stop on the T2 line – Cronaca
Scandicci, 6 July 2022. Due to a breakdown of a tram occurred at the height of San Donato Università stop of Florence, the line T2 of the tramway was temporary suspension at 14.51. After a few minutes, the time strictly necessary to understand whether the tram could restart or not, Gest decided to restore the service on Line T2 limited to the sections between the Peretola-Novoli Regione and Redi-Unità stops.
As for the stretch Novoli Region-Redi, was discovered by the tramway service, it was set up a replacement bus service, which arrived and went into business within the necessary technical times. The stops of the replacement buses are indicated on the maps present in all the platforms of the tramway precisely to facilitate passengers in this type of situation.
As soon as the breakdown occurred, all passengers were asked to get off the tram. Subsequently, the technicians invited by GEST intervened on site to organize the vehicle. During these operations there was an oil leak which, due to the high temperatures of the systems, caused the emission of smoke from the lower and external part of the tram.
There circulation on line T2 was restored at 16:29 and the service is back to normal.
