Ukraine plans to build 7.1 GW of RES generation
As part of the military recovery, Ukraine aims to build 7.1 GW of renewable energy facilities, Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko plans.

According to the Ministry of Energy in its release, green transformation will be at the center of Ukraine’s post-war recovery, and the decarbonization of Ukraine’s energy sector is planned to be used, in particular, through the development of safe and carbon-neutral nuclear energy.
“We are considering 10 GW of water export from Ukraine to the EU, which was outlined by the European Commission as our starting indicator,” the minister added.
The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine, for its part, reported that as a result of this meeting, it, the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association and the relevant European associations WindEurope and SolarPower Europe signed a joint application to the leaders of Ukraine and with a call to use RES in the military reconstruction of Ukraine, setting the goal of achieving 50% of RES in electricity production by 2030 at the expense of onshore and offshore wind energy, as well as the development of rooftop and outdoor solar power plants.
“To achieve these goals, Ukraine and the EU must create a strong and sustainable technological, industrial and investment partnership to attract the number of investments in renewable energy sources, as well as in sustainable and fully synchronized power grids. Therefore, we call on the leaders of Ukraine and the EU to create a special tool “Restored”. for Ukraine” within the framework of the joint strategic plan for the reconstruction of Ukraine,” the energy company says.
As noted in the association, the European commissioner for energy issues, Kader Simson, who also participated in the meeting, confirmed the EU’s determination to support Ukraine both during the war and during the recovery period.
