Premium hydrogen car presented in Russia
Aurus promises that the sedan will have a range of 600 kilometers, but so far this is a prototype. How far are we from a hydrogen future?
Concept car from Aurus, writes TASS with reference to the company’s materials, were presented as part of the Innoprom exhibition at the stand of the NAMI Institute. Visually, the car differs little from the Senat line: the same powerful blunt nose as a Rolls-Royce or Bentley. The difference is inside: for now, the unnamed sedan will run on hydrogen fuel cells. The value is far and sharp – from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in four seconds and 600 kilometers without refueling. There is only one problem: driving in circles. So far in Russia exists only one hydrogen filling station – in Chernogolovka near Moscow.
The prospects for a hydrogen car from Aurus are assessed by auto expert Yuri Uryukov:

There is still no consensus on the prospects for hydrogen-powered transport in the world. In an ideal situation, these are absolutely harmless to the environment, but it all depends on the source of the source. If gas is extracted or produced using renewable energy, this is one thing. If, to produce it, you need to burn a bucket of oil or coal, it’s completely different. Moreover, the efficiency of the whole process is quite low: the gas must be cleaned, compacted, delivered to users, converted only into energy inside the machine and then fed into the engine. Ultimately how repetition researched by Stanford a few years earlier, taking into account the costs of adapting electric vehicles to batteries that are less harmful to the environment than hydrogen vehicles.
