It’s a small victory for the kindergarten of Pechbonnieu. For several weeks, the parents of pupils in the schools of the commune are active in the hope of ensuring a return to school in 2022 placed under better auspices for the pupils and the teaching staff.

And for good reason, the school map 2022 of the establishment of Pechbonnieu was strongly questioned by the collective, “Our children at school”. In response, the parents of students had launched an online petition, which, to date, collect “400 signatures” assure the collective, contacted by The Independent Opinion.

Against a “double level” class

As a reminder, the 2022 school map offered a class opening in elementary school. However, the rectorate has opted for a requalification of “elementary school into primary school” tells us Fabien Arslanian, treasurer of the collective of parents of pupils “Our children at school” by Pechbonnieu. A subtle nuance, which does not explain, has consequences for the operation of the establishment.

When the rectorate saw the situation of the kindergarten, they opted for a discreet solution, which we do not find very honest. They reclassified the elementary school as a primary school. This means that the establishment can now accommodate kindergarten students and they can therefore be mixed with primary students. Which can harm the awakening of schoolchildren”, we detail the treasurer of the collective.

Meeting with the deputy inspector of the academy

Thursday, June 30, the parents of studentss planned to demonstrate in front of thekindergarten of the olive tree. One of their main grievances was to organize a meeting with representatives of the rectorate. Thanks to their mobilization, the collective was able to get, the same day, a meeting with the Deputy Academic Director of the National Education Services (Dasen).

“During this meeting, we obtained the following guarantees: the opening of the class in elementary school will not be a class mixing kindergarten and elementary students and the provision of a permanent substitute teacher for throughout the school year within the school group of the olive tree“, explains Fabien Arslanian.

In short, each school will be able to set up an additional class at the start of the 2022 school year. An academic decision that looks like a small victory for the parents of students from Pechbonnieu.
