LGV Bordeaux-Toulouse: Installation of the supervisory board and first meeting of the steering committee
The installation of the supervisory board of the GPSO company (Grand Projet du Sud Ouest) as well as the meeting of the steering committee took place on Monday, in the presence of Etienne Guyot, prefect of the Occitanie region and coordinator of the project. . The LGV will connect Toulouse to Paris in three hours and to Bordeaux in one hour, a gain of one hour on each journey, as well as twenty minutes to Dax.
The GPSO company’s supervisory board brings together the 25 local authorities in Occitania and New Aquitaine that participate in the financing, as well as the SNCF. Carole Delga was elected president of the supervisory board during this crucial stage for the project. The authority voted an initial budget of 43.6 million euros, with funding from the State and local authorities, which allows the start of the pre-operational phases of the project.
The European Union already participates in the financing of the GPSO
Elected environmentalists have stepped up to denounce, once again, the financing plan. The actors present today wished to respond. “Everything that has been said so far by opponents of the project is completely false. This is a project already supported by Europe to the tune of 39 million euros. Moreover, Europe is already funding projects in other countries that have the same interest” insisted Carole Delga.
Alain Rousset, president of the Nouvelle Aquitaine region, underlines one of his “a popular success project that not only serves Paris but a massive and ecological relationship”; “Europe is already funding the GPSO for the development in Bordeaux and north of Toulouse as well as for the project itself. Why would Europe stop funding the project? » added Etienne Guyot prefect of the Occitanie region.
